No matter where the girls of Girls II Women plan to go in their lives and careers, sharpening their basic social skills, such as etiquette, will help them get there. Confidence and poise are important to their ability to communicate effectively in everyday interactions as well as in professional situations – interviews, meetings and luncheons, for example.

On September 18, Girls II Women took 41 girls from Roosevelt Middle School in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Lake Shore Middle School in Belle Glade, Florida, to the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach for an etiquette training luncheon. Sponsored by Tarra Enterprises, the luncheon gave the girls the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of etiquette from international protocol expert Jacqueline Whitmore.

“The rules and skills the girls learned during Jacqueline’s presentation will serve them well throughout their lives,” said Girls II Women Board President Tarra L. Pressey. “This annual event is designed to help nurture self-esteem and give the girls the tools they need to function successfully in both corporate and social settings. They are better prepared for college, job interviews, career responsibilities and social events.”

Palm Beach County Commissioner Priscilla Taylor and Deputy County Administrator Verdenia Baker were special guests at the luncheon, speaking to the girls about the countless opportunities available to them.

The Ritz-Carlton topped off the afternoon with a guided tour of the luxurious property, and Gilded Spa & Salon of Palm Beach Gardens generously provided gifts for the participating girls.
