Girls II Women is a nonprofit organization established in 1997 to help girls in underserved neighborhoods in Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach and Belle Glade, Florida, achieve their full personal and professional potential. Girls II Women educates, inspires and motivates girls, helping them build their self-esteem, knowledge, awareness and social skills.
The girls involved in Girls II Women are eager to excel in school, succeed in college and make personal and career choices that will help them build successful, fulfilling futures. We strive to equip these bright, forward-thinking students with the tools they need by:
- Introducing them to people, places, events and opportunities they might not otherwise experience
- Offering a network of mentors, which includes professional women who live and work in Palm Beach County
- Taking them on college tours to offer a close-up view of the broad range of educational opportunities available to them
For the 2013-2014 school year, Girls II Women is working with girls from Lake Shore Middle School in Belle Glade and Roosevelt Middle School in West Palm Beach. Other schools that the organization has served include Pahokee Middle-Senior High School in Pahokee, Roosevelt Full Service Center in West Palm Beach, John F. Kennedy Middle School in Riviera Beach, and Glades Central High School in Belle Glade.
